Obstacle Laser Run Series - Event #1 Warrnambool
Details
Event information
1st Event of the Series hosted by South West Vic Pentathlon Hub & South West Movement Academy
Obstacle Laser Run (OLR) - Is a dynamic new pathway sport of Modern Pentathlon. This competition integrates obstacles into the traditional Laser Run format, making it more physically demanding and exciting.
What is Obstacle Laser Run?
The competition will usually start with the Obstacle event, where athletes will earn points based on their completion time. Next – the Laser Run – combining running & laser shooting.
Here’s how it will typically work:
• Obstacle Course: includes 8 obstacles such as steps, rings, over-under-through, wheels, monkey bars, finish wall on a 70m course.
• Laser Run: Simply combines shooting and running in a continuous format. Athletes run a lap or run into the shooting range where they are required to hit 5 bullseyes or 50 seconds elapses as they try, on an electronic target, from 10m or 5m, depending on age. Then run, shoot, repeat x (depending on age) and finish with a run lap.
• Scoring & Timing: The event is timed. Completing obstacles efficiently is key, accuracy in shooting is your aim, combine with a strong run and you have a score.
Why a series?
Our athletes are spread across the state, making it difficult for everyone to come together. So, we are taking the events closer to them and more regularly. Providing more opportunities for current athletes to develop competition skills, encourage new athletes to get involved.
Scores will be allocated at each event with the top 5 scores across all events determining the Champion in each category.
