Laser Run Festival - Yarra Ranges

State Laser Run Championships, Relays & Para Laser Run

This is a great opportunity for our community to come together and those new to Modern Pentathlon to come and get a feel for a MP pathway sport. Even though this is a State event, athletes of all levels are welcome to come and get involved.   

The Events

Laser Run is an action packed urban sport that combines Running and Shooting in fast-paced and dynamic races. Athletes run laps of either 300m or 600m and shoot a Laser Pistol from a distance of 5m or 10m. Athletes need to hit 5 green lights in 50 seconds on the target before they can run again, then run another lap before shooting again. Distances and age groups below. Mixed surfaces - all weather synthetic track & may include some grass.

Age - Distance - Format

Ages are calculated as current year – birth year, I.e. 2026-2015=11, which is Under 13 (not Under 11). Athletes can compete in any distance but are only eligible for Awards at or above their age, i.e. an under 13 athlete is eligible to win under 15 category if they choose to enter it, but not eligible for awards if they enter as under 11.*Minimum age for this event is 9 years.

Mixed Laser Run Events - Championship races will be followed by Mixed Relays and a range of different format and distance events - open to Athlete & Trialist memberships. This is a great way to practice different formats with friends and with the assistance of our experienced coaches.

  PARA ATHLETES join us for PARA LASER RUN 'Come & Try'. A part of Para Modern Pentathlon, combines running (or wheel chair pushing) with laser pistol shooting. Get a taste of this fast growing and exciting WORLD SPORT at a world class venue! 

Entry:

•   Special price - $33 per athlete- Laser Run Championship includes relays and other events on the day.

•   Para Laser Run 'Come & Try' - $10 per athlete includes other events on the day.

•   All athletes must be a member of a Modern Pentathlon Organisation - this can be a Trialist membership of Modern Pentathlon Victoria which allows you to compete in most Modern Pentathlon events in Australia for 3months. (Trialist membership can be upgraded to an Athlete membership at the end of the 3mths or before) Note: Trialist members can enter the State Championship event though are not eligible to be awarded Age Championship Awards. Current Adult or Youth Athlete Member are eligible for Championship Awards.

•   Parents and carers, not already competing and want to join in the 'other' events on the day, please be sure to indicate interest on athletes registration and join Modern Pentathlon Victoria as an Official/Volunteer Member - FREE!
