17 Coaches Awarded Level 2 UIPM Accreditation Following AIS Education week

Seventeen coaches from Australia, New Zealand and Singapore have officially been awarded their Level 2 UIPM Coaching Accreditation following an intensive week of education and practical learning at the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) in Canberra.
Delivered under the guidance of Tom Toolis from Pentathlon Great Britain, the course provided an in-depth exploration of technical standards, event delivery, athlete development principles and high-performance coaching frameworks aligned with international best practice.
Tom generously shared his extensive international experience and expertise, challenging and inspiring the cohort throughout a rigorous program of theory, practical application and assessment.
Integrated Coach & Athlete Development
Importantly, the coaching accreditation ran in conjunction with Modern Pentathlon Australia’s Athlete Development Camp — creating a powerful, high-performance learning environment.
This integrated model allowed athletes to directly benefit from the advanced knowledge being delivered to coaches, while coaches were able to apply contemporary principles in real-time training environments. The result was a dynamic week of collaboration, innovation and shared learning.
Athletes gained exposure to refined technical insights, evidence-based training methods and structured performance feedback — while coaches deepened their understanding through practical implementation with engaged developing athletes.
Investing in the Future
The successful completion of the Level 2 accreditation by 17 coaches represents a significant investment in the future capability of Modern Pentathlon in Australia and Oceania.
By strengthening our national coaching pathway and aligning with international standards set by the Union Internationale de Pentathlon Moderne (UIPM), Modern Pentathlon Australia continues to build a sustainable high-performance framework that supports athletes at every stage of their journey.
Congratulations to all coaches who undertook this demanding program and to the athletes who embraced a week of learning, development and opportunity at the AIS.
Together, we continue to raise the standard of our sport across Australia.
