Modern Pentathlon Development Camp & Australian Tetrathlon Championships

Athletes and coaches from across Australia and Australasia gathered at the Australian Institute of Sport last week for an intensive Modern Pentathlon Development Camp. The week‑long program brought together up‑and‑coming athletes, Olympians, and dedicated coaches to strengthen skills, deepen pathways, and uplift capability across the sport.

A major highlight of the camp was the Coaches Course, led by internationally renowned Modern Pentathlon Coach Tom Toolis from Great Britain. His sessions focused on developing advanced coaching techniques and expanding growth opportunities for modern pentathlon throughout the region. The time spent with the athletes was a key feature of the camp.

Throughout the week, athletes also benefited from an impressive lineup of guest speakers, gaining insights into:

  • Values and Leadership in Sport
  • Sport Psychology
  • Nutrition for Performance
  • The Technical Demands of all Five Pentathlon Disciplines
  • Travelling and Competing as a High‑Performance Athlete
  • Anti‑Doping Responsibilities, delivered by Sport Integrity Australia

The week concluded with the Australian Tetrathlon Championships, showcasing four of the five Modern Pentathlon disciplines: Obstacles, Laser, Run and Swim. The event produced outstanding performances across all age categories, reflecting the high standards, determination and exceptional camaraderie displayed by the athletes.

A special congratulations to the seven MPV athletes who claimed National Tetrathlon Championship titles in their age groups, an incredible achievement and testament to their focus and teamwork.
