World Championship Gold, Silver and Bronze Highlight Outstanding Campaign for Team Australia in Mossel Bay

Mossel Bay, South Africa – 8 to 13 December 

Team Australia has completed a highly successful campaign at the 2025 UIPM Biathle, Triathle and Laser Run World Championships in Mossel Bay, South Africa, highlighted by a world championship gold medal, multiple team podiums and a series of strong individual performances across all age groups.

Across the championships, Australian athletes demonstrated composure, resilience and depth, reinforcing the nation’s growing presence on the international stage.

Silver for Australia in U17 Mixed Relay Biathle

Australia opened its World Championship campaign with a podium performance, as Milanke Haasbroek and Oliver Clapham claimed silver in the Under 17 Mixed Relay Biathle.

The duo delivered a composed and powerful race against a strong international field, showcasing speed, teamwork and maturity beyond their years. The result provided a strong early boost for the Australian team and set the tone for the week ahead.

Team Bronze in U17 Boys Biathle & Strong Senior Men Performances

Australia continued its success in the Biathle Finals, securing Team Bronze in the Under 17 Boys event. All three athletes contributed strongly across the run–swim–run format:

  • Oliver Clapham – 22nd
  • Levi Tubailagi – 26th
  • William Nieuwenhuis – 33rd

Their combined effort in a large and competitive field highlighted the depth and consistency of Australia’s emerging talent.

In the Senior Men’s Biathle Final, Australia delivered impressive results against a world-class field of 30 athletes:

  • Dean Daubaras – 9th
  • Amos Vagg – 21st

Both athletes showed strength and experience at the highest level of competition.

U17 Boys Secure Team Bronze at Triathle World Championships

Team Australia added another podium finish at the Triathle World Championships, with the Under 17 boys securing Team Bronze following a standout performance across the swim, run and shoot.

Individual results included:

  • Oliver Clapham – 11th
  • Levi Tubailagi – 19th
  • William Nieuwenhuis – 21st

The bronze medal marked a significant achievement for the young squad and underlined Australia’s continued progress in multisport disciplines.

In the Senior Men’s Triathle Final, Australia again featured strongly:

  • Amos Vagg – 12th
  • Dean Daubaras – 17th

Adding to the positive results, Milanke Haasbroek produced another impressive performance in the Under 13 Triathle Final, finishing 8th overall in a field of 36 athletes while competing back in her own age group.

World Championship Gold Caps Outstanding Laser Run Finale

Australia closed out the championships in outstanding fashion at the Laser Run World Championships, led by a gold medal performance from Milanke Haasbroek.

World Champion – Milanke Haasbroek (U13 

Haasbroek delivered a superb performance to claim gold in the Under 13 Laser Run, stopping the clock at an impressive 4:02.54. Combining powerful running with calm, accurate shooting, she took control of the race to secure victory in great style.

The gold medal capped off an exceptional championship campaign for the young Australian and highlighted her continued progression on the world stage.

Team Silver for U17 Boys & Strong Senior Finish

The Australian Under 17 boys added another podium result on the final day, securing Team Silver in the Laser Run:

  • Oliver Clapham – 8th
  • Levi Tubailagi – 18th
  • William Nieuwenhuis – 19th

The result reflected the group’s steady improvement throughout the championships and their ability to perform under pressure.

In the Senior Men’s Laser Run, Australia finished its campaign strongly:

  • Amos Vagg – 12th
  • Dean Daubaras – 20th

Both athletes closed out the championships with determined performances in a highly competitive international field.
